Hitron Unveils Video Gateways
IBC, September 11th
AMSTERDAM — Hitron Europe will be showcasing its latest range of video gateways, which
enable flexible IPTV distribution over HFC networks to IP enabled STBs, at IBC 2009.
Already deployed in the influential Asian market, Hitron products will soon be launched with a number of North American operators.
Hitron’s video gateways use innovative techniques such as EdgeQAM and Hitron’s state-of-the-art DOCSIS technology to provide operators with the best possible use of bandwidth allocation in the delivery of their data and video services.
By using Hitron products, operator benefit from:
– Simplified setup – as the video is kept fully within the IP domain
– Efficient use of bandwidth – as only requested streams are put on the network
– Integration with switched video services, as the EdgeQAM can be limited to only part of the network.
Rudy Zijlstra, CTO of Hitron Europe GmbH commented: “This setup enables the operator to provide high speed internet, as well as cost effective video distribution to simple STBs. All the STB needs to understand is traditional IPTV and the cable modem will take care of finding the correct stream on the network, based on information it receives from the channel line up server. This represents a step change in the way IPTV services can be deployed.”
Hitron ranges of Cable Modems supporting their video gateway range include:
– CMA-38300 for cost effective high speed data and video
– CMA-38350 when frequency agility is needed for video capture
– CMA-39340 for frequency agility on the video streams without need for high-speed data.
